TREP$ (enTREPreneurS) Business Club

The PRMHSA is proud to present our 10th annual TREP$ program. This after school club is an entrepreneur education opportunity where students create a business plan, formulate a budget, and determine a marketing strategy for a new product that they will develop, produce, and ultimately sell at the TREP$ Marketplace.

Participants may work individually or with a partner. The program will be facilitated by a PRM staff member and assisted by PRMHSA volunteers. In addition, KHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students will be available at each session to mentor our future entrepreneurs.

This after school club consists of 7 TREP$ sessions and will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Wednesdays in October and November, with a wrap up session in December (10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/17). NOTE: Students will not be able to take the late bus, as TREP$ dismissal time is after the late bus departure. Any student who misses the first two meetings will be removed from the program and their spot given to a student on the waiting list. The $25 cost of this program is non-refundable.

The students will present their products for sale at the Marketplace on December 9 (snow date December 11) in the PRM gym from 6:00-8:30 pm with setup starting at 5pm. The Marketplace is free and open to the public. The entire community is invited to come and see what happens when you give children the creative outlet and responsibility that comes with starting a business venture.

In order to provide the best overall experience, the number of students will be capped at 100 WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. We have learned through experience that students get the most out of this program with no more than 100 entrepreneurs.

We anticipate this program to fill quickly. This program is run and sponsored by the PRMHSA. You must have a PRMHSA membership in order to register.

Registration will close on Sept. 30th or earlier if all spots are filled. Once we reach our 100 student maximum, we will compile a waiting list.

Please note - NO human food products will be allowed for sale.

Stories of Adversity & Resilience (SOAR)

SOAR brings speakers to PRM to share influential and educational stories. The goal is to inspire students to persevere through challenges, accept and celebrate people from diverse backgrounds, and be motivated to make positive choices that come from a place of respect, resiliency and forgiveness.

SOAR speakers present either during a large assembly or in small group settings. Students participate in a variety of lessons and group discussions about the speaker during classes and spend time in small groups processing and reflecting on what they have heard and learned.

The PRMHSA is proud to partner with PRM Staff to help support the SOAR program. We accept tax deductible donations that will be used solely for the purpose of supporting this program. Topics covered by SOAR include:

  • Respect for others
  • Overcoming hate
  • Safe electronic use
  • Overcoming adversity and surviving tragedy through courage and forgiveness
  • Holocaust education
  • Drug, alcohol, and substance abuse, addiction, and recovery
  • Success despite disabilities
  • Mental health awareness and suicide prevention
  • Success through hard work and perseverance
  • Women’s rights

Past speakers included:

  • Katherine Switzer - First woman to run the Boston Marathon (when women were not permitted to compete)
  • Jack Wallace - Child athlete involved in boating accident who required right leg amputation at age 10; Is now a 2x Gold Medalist in the Paralympic’s
  • Laura Benanti - Former Kinnelon student and Broadway star who broke her neck at the age of 22 while performing
  • Maria Palmer - Kinnelon resident and author of “On the Rocks”, a book that chronicles the rise and fall of her father, from famous restauranteur to federal prison

These are the types of speakers we bring to PRM as well as the associated costs of those speakers. Most speakers cost between $2,500 and $5,000 per visit, with some as high as $10,000. The number of speakers that will be brought to PRM will be determined by the amount of donations that are received. The actual speakers that are secured will be based on funding and availability.

Thank you for considering a donation to this important program and for your continued support of our efforts to enrich the lives of our students!
